Investigation On Application Of Aromatic Plants In Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area

As an unique kind of plant species,aromatic plants play an important role in the garden application because of their special advantages.It can not only beautify and color our environment,as other plant species,it also can perfume the environment.Moreover,aromatic plants can help lift people’s spirits,prevent and cure diseases,repel mosquitoes.The West Lake in Hangzhou,Owning favourably endowed natural environment and a long history of garden landscaping,has a rich variety of aromatic plants.The application of aromatic plants has a certain foundation in the West Lake and there will be a broad prospect for development.This paper takes The West Lake in Hangzhou as the survey area and selects representative parks and scenic spots such as Zhongshan Park,Orioles Singing in the Willows,Viewing Fish at Flower Pond,Prince Bay Park,Mirror Lake Hall,Hangzhou Botanical Garden,Hangzhou Flower Garden,Wine-making Yard and Lotus Pool in Summer,Hubin Park and so on to do the field survey.Combined with the literature,we have arrived that there are 86 species of common aromatic plants in the West Lake scenic area,with 25 species of trees,amounting for 29%,with 42 species of Shrubs and vines,amounting for 48.88%,and with 18 species of aquatic plants,amounting for 22.05%.By the investigation of the park from the survey,the main aromatic plant in the Wine-making Yard and Lotus Pool in Summer is lotus,there are more than400 kinds of lotus.The main aromatic plant in the Zhongshan Park is plum,there are more than 400 plums.The main aromatic plant in the Prince Bay Park is Tulip,about 400 thousand plants are planted each year.Hangzhou Botanical Garden is comprehensive botanical garden,there are not only special gardens such as lily magnolia and camellia garden,osmanthus and crape myrtle gardens,but also special gardens where visitors can appreciate the plums.Therefore,different parks have different characteristics,and also there are differences in the use of the aromatic plants.The arrangement of aromatic plants in the West Lake scenic area mainly includes solitary plants,colonial plants,group planting,color patches and ground cover.By the investigation,we have found that the application of aromatic plants in the West Lake is lacking: lack of understanding of aromatic plants;the species are unitary;lack of rationality of plant collocation;failure to control plant aroma.In response to these problems,put forward our own suggestions: strengthen the exploitation and utilization of wild aromatic plant resources;develop a variety of garden application forms and making use ofaromatic plants;pay attention to the arrangement of plants and create a good space atmosphere;pay attention to the combination of multiple sensory enjoyment and the rational collocation of fragrance;strengthen the maintenance and management of aromatic plants;strengthen the cooperation with colleges and universities to improve the health effect of aromatic plants.At last,after the analysis,recommended the aromatic plant applications forms for the West Lake scenic: aromatic plant garden;blind garden,night garden,aromatic health green space,aromatic courtyard.
