Jiaokou Pumping Wei River Irrigation District(JPWID)is a large multi-level electric pumping station of irrigation and drainage,and its water source is the Wei River.JPWID is located in the lower Wei River,east of the Guanzhong Plain in Shaanxi.Great progress has been made in farmland water conservancy in JPWID,and there are still many problems in infrastructure.On one hand,The lining of some channels in the water distribution system was damaged and slipped in a large area,which caused serious siltation,large water loss,and low irrigation water utilization coefficient.On the other hand,The water distribution system lacks automatic control,unified standards,information construction and scientific management,that have resulted in the low level of water supply security,efficiency and control of salinization in the irrigation district.We need to solve the above mentioned problems through modernization measures such as water-saving transformation and continued construction of supporting facilities.In order to increase agricultural production and peasants’ incomes in irrigation areas,The effectiveness and experience of many projects that have been implemented in water-saving distribution of irrigation districts have been summarized and compared by consulting the literature.Two research methods,system investigation and case analysis,are used to complete this study task.(1)From the perspective of water resources balance and water saving potential in the irrigation area,it is feasible to implement the water-saving distribution project in JPWID.It can improve the nature of the fields by expanding the irrigated area and reducing the salinization,thereby increasing the total agricultural output value of the irrigation area.(2)The rectangular section of reinforced concrete has excellent resistance to external forces,integrity,bearing capacity and anti-permeability.The lower management and maintenance costs make it better than the arc-foot trapezoidal section of the mortar-masonry lining structure and the U-shaped cross-section of the mortar-masonry retaining wall structure in areas with high groundwater levels.(3)Some technologies,such as big data,satellite remote sensing,and artificial intelligence could be used to improve the information management level of irrigation areas and achieve the purpose of water-saving irrigation.(4)After comprehensive analysis of irrigation economic benefits,water resources benefits,ecological benefits,environmental benefits,we thought that the benefits of water-saving renovation projects are obvious.It will play an important role in supporting and guaranteeing the sustainable development of agriculture in irrigation areas.
