Quality Improvement Of Aerial Work Platform In Haulotte Using DMAIC Methodology

Under the policy of One Belt One Road,The demand for AWP(aerial work platform)is growing fastly which can significantly improve the construction safety and efficiency of labor.In recent years,many companies have joined the AWP industry which makes the market competition more severe.In addition,company need to pay more due to the rising labor cost.In this market background,if the company wants to keep profits continue to grow,it must implement continuous improvement to reduce the cost,but also improve the quality of machines to meet customer demand.The six sigma management approach provides this possibility,which is customer-driven and aims to enhance the core competitiveness of the companies by reducing process variation.This paper study motivation comes from the voice of the customer,according to Haulotte current manufacturing process,proposed based on six sigma DMAIC model to improve AWP quality.first of all,introduces six sigma theory,systematically introduces six sigma’s connotation,basic principles,system method,and then through specific case which claimed of machine external leakage,finds out existing problems in manufacturing process,introduces the AWP process flow and six sigma practicable.Then,through the DMAIC model of six sigma applied to find out the external leakage problem factors using statistical tools,such as fishbone diagram,brainstorming,cause and effect matrix,variance analysis,experimental design,etc.,and corrective actions taken to achieve the project goal.Finally,control and standardization the actions.This case well illustrates that how to implement six sigma management at manufacture company to improve quality.Based on the actual situation of Haulotte company,this paper can be carried out to the other AWP companies.It is believed that this application research can provide valuable experience for the company to implement six sigma in the future.
