Building roads across the border is the most special form of concession expansion in the modern history of Shanghai, which is of great significance to the development of the whole Shanghai.Building roads across the border is an important link in the shaping process of Shanghai urban culture, which has a profound impact on the social evolution of Shanghai. The construction of roads across the border led to the rapid expansion of the concession. At the same time, the new modern municipal administration was introduced into the areas of the original Chinese town, which accelerated the urbanization process of these areas, and also changed the daily life of these communities. The evolution of these societies also changed the social culture of the area.Building roads across the border itself is a kind of breaking the original order.Under the time node of coexistence of conflict and opportunity, the complex governance environment and multiple citizen groups have created the rich, heterogeneous and bipolar cultural attributes of the region. The demonstration effect, gap effect, island effect and distribution effect between the concession and the Chinese town are vividly reflected in the region.Based on the urban process of cross-border road construction, this paper expounds the dual impact of cross-border road construction on the social transformation of Shanghai. On the one hand, the municipal innovation brought by cross-border road construction has brought a new look to the social life of the community in this area, and on the other hand, the contradiction and conflict brought by cross-border road construction have complicated the social governance of this area.On this basis, this paper analyzes the local community's acceptance and rejection of the new life style and the process of cross-border road building and their changes under the bipolar effect of cross-border road building. The full text is divided into three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion, with appendix at the end of the article. The introduction part of this paper explains the background and significance of this topic, research content and research methods, and makes a summary and academic review of previous studies. The main body is divided into three chapters. The first chapter takes the cross-border road construction and the modern municipal administration of Shanghai as the topic, analyzes the game theory of governance, municipal administration and social governance of crime in the cross-border road construction area;the second chapter takes the cross-border road construction and the modern civil life of Shanghai as the topic, analyzes the civil groups living in the cross-border road construction area and their social life and public space;the third chapter takes the cross-border road construction and the modern Shanghai social culture as the topic, this paperanalyzes the psychological and cultural identity of the residential community in the cross-border road construction area, and finally analyzes the heterogeneous culture in the cross-border road construction area. The first chapter, the second chapter and the third chapter are the political history, the social life history and the social cultural history. The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper, and clearly points out the great influence and role of cross-border road construction on the social transformation of Shanghai, and how these influences are reflected in the cross-border road construction area. The appendix provides the list of cross-border road building for readers' reference.
