The millimeter wave multi-port coaxial connector is a highly integrated modular connector composed of two or more single millimeter wave coaxial connectors. It has broad development prospects in the trend of miniaturization and high frequency of microwave equipment.Based on the SMPM interface in MIL-STD-348 B,this thesis designs a pair of millimeter wave multi-port coaxial connectors. In this process, the key points of connector design are studied. The main research contents are as follows:(1)Based on the coaxial theory, the cut-off frequency and impedance of the coaxial connector at the air and the insulator are analyzed, and the relationship between the cut-off frequency at the dielectric and the dielectric constant of the insulator and the conductor size at the air is derived. The maximum dielectric constant value without generating higher order modes is calculated.(2)Through the use of ANSYS Electronics Desktop simulation software,we explored: 1)When the materials are PEI and PEEK respectively, the effect of the cutout size of the cutout structure of the round hole, the cutout structure of the cylindrical extension hole, and the cutout structure of the arc hole on the impedance;2)When the materials are PEI and PEEK respectively, the depth and width of the compensation slot depth and width of the cylindrical extension hole cutout structure and arched hole cutout structure affect the VSWR.3)When the cables are 047 coaxial cable and 086 coaxial cable, the effect of the dislocation dimensions on the VSWR.4)The effect of the dislocation dimensions at the abrupt change of the inner and outer conductor diameters of the pin connector on the VSWR.5)When the jack connector is connected with the pin connector model, can the VSWR meet the requirements.(3)Use Inventor design software to complete the structural design of SMPM millimeter wave multi-port plug connector and SMPM millimeter wave multi-port socket connector.(4)The Workbench software was used to study the changes of the insertion force and contact pressure with the insertion time during the insertion and extraction of the inner and outer contacts of the SMPM jack cable connector and the corresponding standard gauge.
