With the developing of micro-wave technology, millimeter-wave (MMW) is widely used in the areas of satellite radar, wireless communication, military aviation etc. Millimeter-wave connectors exhibit a rapid trend of being miniaturization, high frequency and high reliability. However, the domestic designs of connectors for high frequency are still in the exploratory stage. In this thesis, a relative in-depth theoretical study and practical research on the MMW connector are present to support the production practice. The differences between millimeter-wave radio frequency connector (MMWRFC) and other connectors is the former employed to transmit the higher frequency MMW signals. The relative small frame size makes the connector especially sensitive to disturbances. Even a little deviation in structure will ruin the signal integrity in the process of transmission. The miniaturization of the MMWRFC adds an extra limitation on the size design and compensation calculation. Thus more accurate frame sizes and the deeper analysis in detail of the compensation structure theory is required to maintain the electrical performance at a high level. The essence of the MMWRFC is a coaxial transmission line. A compensation method is proposed by researching the electromagnetic wave in the transmission line and analyzing the factors which have great impact on transmission performance. The main works in this paper is to develop a novel MMWRFC which satisfies the demands of miniaturization, high-frequency, multiple plug, high reliability and low voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR). Basing on the transmission line theory, a discussion focusing on the compensation method is given to cover the effects of the impedance mismatch segments, and meanwhile provide perfect media support. In addition, the HFSS simulation software is used to simulate and verify the analysis and theories. Physical tests show that, the products designed according to the scheme proposed in this paper have good mechanical and electrical properties. These works provide the detail theoretical analysis and development ideas for the system designs of the MMWRFC.
