Millimeter-wave RF coaxial connectors are important components for signal connections in millimeter-wave systems. In recent years, the technology for millimeter-wave system is developed much, the traditional millimeter-wave connections that based on rectangular or circular waveguides gradually deviate from the trend of miniaturization. Nowadays Millimeter-wave systems need to provide multi-channel signal interconnections, blind engaging and quick disengaging capabilities within limited space, those waveguides with traditional mounting methods are not able to meetthe technical requirements. Therefore applications that employ millimeter-wave RF coaxial connectors are right on the track, growing steadily, with increasing market demands for these connectors in military weapon, equipment and systems. The research of millimeter-wave RF coaxial connectors in China is begun later compared to that in foreign countries, and the gap between domestic and foreign technological capabilities is large. Currently, millimeter RF coaxial connections on equipment that is made at home basically rely on imported connectors, resulting in a grim situation that the process of our own weapon and equipment research and development is subject to foreign constraints.Thethesis first introduce what a millimeter-wave RF coaxial connector is and where it applies, with special attention to the research and summarization of its actual applicable fields, laying foundation and pointing out the direction for the application of research findings of the entire project. Meanwhile, in order to find a best niche for future research and production of this project as well as proper acting points of the research work, the article discusses and analyzes the gap between domestic and foreign technological capabilities on the subject of millimeter-wave RF coaxial interconnection. The article starts from the research on basic theory of the design methods and key techniques of the millimeter-wave RF coaxial connector, then to the respective practices of the design techniques of 40 GHz and 65 GHz millimeter-wave RF coaxial connectors, with special attention to the discussion and analysis of the structural design and adjustment methods of the key element of insulator. The findings of the theoretical research are applied in specific actual designs. The design proposal of 65 GHz millimeter-wave RF coaxial connector has been put forward on the basis of the design optimization of 40 GHz connector and has been validated by trial productions. The performance of our 65 GHz millimeter-wave RF coaxial connectors have been demonstrated to approach those of their foreign counterparts. This research is based on from theoretic analysis, with its production having passed through the validation of actual practice and conforming to the technological requirements of the design of millimeter-wave RF coaxial connectors of higher frequency ranges. Not only can it now successfully used for the SMPM Type of 65 GHz millimeter-wave RF coaxial connector according to the research findings described in this thesis, and it isalso able to draw inferences about other types of millimeter-wave RF coaxial connectors from the designing methods of the optimization analysis of 65 GHz model.
