| Air transportation,as the fifth wave of transportation, has profoundly affected the development of society and economy.China’s air transportation has grown rapidly since the 1980 s.At present, many cities have participated in the domestic and international aviation network connection.A city’s external connections are an important indicator of its degree of participation in internationalization, while aviation external connections can reflect the closeness of a city’s connection with major cities around the world.Especially those cities that have close ties with foreign cities can develop into international aviation hub cities and participate in global competition. From the theoretical point of view, the previous research focused on analyzing China’s aviation links with the international community as a whole, ignoring the important role of the connection between nodal cities and foreign countries in regional economic development. From the perspective of planning research,China issued the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan for the Development of Civil Aviation in China"(hereinafter referred to as "Plan")in 2017.However,the international passenger traffic of some of the selected cities is not prominent. And the reasons for the selection of the ten major cities were not clearly stated.Further discussion, will the hub of the "planning" be adjusted in the future? Which cities should be supplemented? What are the influencing factors of the external connection of hub cities? These issues are worthy of our in-depth discussion. This paper combines existing research results, uses ICAO’s statistics on domestic and international passenger flow, and combines network analysis methods to conduct in-depth discussions on China’s international aviation hub cities’ external relations.First, through the calculation and analysis of degree centrality,it is concluded that although China’s international aviation hub is not comparable with the international aviation hub in terms of volume, there are 22 cities in China that not only have significant transit properties, but also their international navigation properties.Secondly, through the visual analysis of the spatial network,in general,China’s international aviation hub is the most closely connected with Asian cities.Japan and South Korea are the major countries associated with Asian cities, and the connections with European regions are mainly concentrated in Frankfurt and Paris. The connection with North America has developed rapidly in recent years, and China’sfirst connection city with the North American region has gradually changed from San Francisco to New York and Los Angeles. Finally, through a quantitative analysis of the influencing factors that affect the external connection of China’s international aviation hubs, the airport security, airport services, airport scale, and the economic development status of the international aviation hubs has an important positive effect. Therefore, combining quantitative analysis results and "planning" lists, taking the security, service, scale, and hinterland economy of the hub airport as the analysis argument, the possible directions for the adjustment of China’s official list in the future are: increase Xiamen,Hangzhou,Qingdao,Wuhan,Zhengzhou, and Dalian International aviation hub construction sites. In order to avoid homogeneous competition of route network and obvious overlap of hinterland service areas, the Shenzhen and Chongqing international aviation hub construction sites have been cancelled. |
