Transportation network is the basis of social and economic development, the efficient operation of transportation network can provide impetus for economic development. Studying network structure and the nodes’importance in network is important for efficient operation of transportation network; also it can optimize the network layout and enhance operational performance. This paper extracts data from the train timetables, and constructs railway passenger transfer network and railway passenger operation network based on Space P and Space L model. Then this paper calculates and analyzes China’s railway operational network characteristics indicators based on the complex network analysis theory. The main research contents include the following:(1) Building railway passenger transfer network and operation network model. The traditional railway network based on railway track cannot fully reflect cities’status in railway network. This paper extracts inter-city train link frequency from the train timetable during different periods; then builds railway passenger transfer network and operation network model based on this data.(2) Network characteristics and network centrality analysis. The adjacency matrix is established based on inter-city train link frequency data. Then this paper calculates railway passenger transfer, operation network characteristics indicators and centrality indicators. By using the complex network theory railway network’s characteristics are studied. Finally this paper analyzes the evolution of railway network based on network indicators during different periods.(3) Network centrality indicators comprehensive analysis. Comprehensive analysis of network centrality indicators is conducted. This paper analyzes the correlation between centrality indicators and classifies city by centrality indicators. Then typical cities’structural features in railway network and the relationship analysis of city centrality and railway passenger volume are conducted.(4) High speed train operation network modeling and analysis. In section4, this paper extracts high speed train timetable from2011,2015’s train timetable and build high speed train operation network model. Then city centrality indicators in high speed train operation network are calculated. Finally, this paper analyzes the impact of high speed railway for city centrality and the trend of high speed railway development.
