Since 2010,worldwide economic growth significantly declined by the global financial crisis.Shrinking international bulk goods market worsen the slumped ship building market both in order price and its quantity.BSIC came across huge challenge in this serious market environment because of its single production type,long project period and inadequate utilization of resources.In order to maintain and expand the ship market share,increase shipyard economic efficiency,project management in VLOC construction urgently need to be improved to shorten the project period and enhance the working efficiency.250K VLOC is the strategic product of BSIC with good cost-effectiveness ratio and high competitiveness in the ship market.Aiming at OC25.0-C# dock period and pier commissioning period,net chart was summarized and analyzed to get the critical path and sub critical path.Procedure improvement solution was developed based on critical path method to optimize OC25.0-C# critical path and sub critical path with construction experience of OC25.0-A/B# and finally achieved a shorter construction time in these two period which leading to a more competitive status in the slumped ship market challenge.Successful implement of critical path method enhance BSIC competitiveness in 250 K VLOC project and underpin a mature solution for the upcoming 400 K VLOC construction.Influenced by the global financial crisis,ship market direction entered a transformation period.Shipyard project management need to be reformed to self-adjust to comply with the market change.Critical path method will be a great benefit in the procedure optimize process.
