Stamping production is the first process of the four main processes of passenger car manufacturing, and it directly affects the other subsequent production processes. With the trend of diversified demand in the passenger car market, automotive stamping production process is becoming more flexibility-demanding and more difficult to schedule. At present, according to our surveys, manual scheduling strategy is widely adopted in stamping workshops of Chinese passenger car manufacturers.Manual scheduling highly relies on the experience of planners, which is time-consuming and usually cannot reach global optimality. Therefore, automated stamping planning and scheduling is an ideal tool for car manufactures. The automotive stamping process is of great production flexibility, needs to consider special production requirements such as continuous downstream demand, which previous automotive stamping planning and scheduling optimization studies in the literature usually overlook.Based on real automotive stamping scenarios and data, the dissertation proposes an integrated planning and scheduling optimization model for the multi-part,single stamping line problem. The model simultaneously determines both production sequence and production batch, while considering inventory constraints and continuous downstream demand requirements.Meanwhile this dissertation also proposes another two special models,i.e.,model considering rack sharing, and model considering die sharing. In this dissertation, the validity of the three models is verified by numerical experiments, and the advantages and disadvantages of the three models in terms of computational time and solving qualities are compared and analyzed. The sensitivity analysis is also carried out by changing some critical parameters to explore the sensitivity impact on the finding results. Finally,we demonstrate the application of the proposed model and method by using real data.According to the experiments by using real case, the proposed model could find good solutions in an acceptable time which outperforms manual method. We believe that the proposed model and method can help manufacturers reduce stamping scheduling time, reduce production costs and improve the rationality of scheduling.
