As the driving force of social progress,energy consumption increases with each passing day.Among many energy consumption industries,the energy consumption produced by the construction industry accounts for about one third of the total energy consumption in the whole society.At present,natural resources are increasingly scarce and environmental pollution is becoming more and more serious.Governments all over the world attach great importance to building energy conservation,and have issued a series of policies and norms to reduce the consumption of energy resources in the construction industry.Unlike general public buildings,university libraries have their own special functional requirements.They must meet the requirements of study and work such as book collection,book reading,electronic material reading,office management,etc.The open-shelf operation mode of modern libraries needs to form a large amount of space in libraries,which is very difficult for natural lighting,natural ventilation and so on.In order to ensure the normal operation of library buildings and meet the requirements of human comfort,a large number of lighting and air-conditioning equipment are usually needed to provide a good indoor environment,which greatly increases the energy consumption of the building.Therefore,the energy-saving problem of the library can not be ignored.Based on the investigation of four university libraries in cold regions,this paper summarizes the characteristics of building energy consumption of University Librariesin cold regions.According to the characteristics of Library energy consumption and climate in cold regions,this paper puts forward energy-saving design strategies suitable for University Libraries in cold regions.Then,taking the Caotang Campus Library of Xi’an University of Architectural Science and Technology as an example,this paper introduces the general situation of the project and the energy-saving design strategies adopted,analyses the existing situation through computer simulation,analyses the advantages and disadvantages of the existing design,and optimizes the energy-saving design for its shortcomings.Then through the simulation calculation of energy consumption,the energy consumption data before and after energy saving optimization design are compared and analyzed.The calculation shows that the total energy consumption of the library after energy saving optimization design can be reduced by20.61%,and the energy saving effect is remarkable.The results of the study have given practical value to researchers in exploring energy-saving design strategies suitable for University Libraries in cold regions.Therefore,the study of energy-saving design of University Libraries in cold regions has a wide range of promotion and guiding significance for the whole society: it is of great significance to improve the learning and working environment of University Libraries in cold regions,to save energy,to protect the ecological environment and to achieve sustainable development,and at the same time,it has reference value for the energy-saving design of new university libraries in cold regions.
