At present, library buildings in cold regions are facing with problems of increasing construction volume and energy consumption.Meanwhile, the function orientation of contemporary library has changed from traditional single form to the multi-functional complex one.In order to meet the needs of users, the form design of building interior space tends to become rich and complex. It is not only necessary to meet the daylighting requirements under reading demand, but also to reduce the building energy consumption as far as possible.Nevertheless, the physical environment performance of such highly complex space is difficult to be evaluated by traditional control variable method. In this paper, the performance objectives of the DA(Daylighting Autonomy),UDI(Useful Daylighting Illuminance)and EUI(Energy Use Intensity)are taken as performance objectives. The multi-objective optimization method based on performance simulation is adopted to optimize the complex vertical pattern space in library buildings in cold regions under multi-context language environment.First of all,the daylighting and energy saving design of library buildings in cold regions and the development trend of the contemporary library buildings space are analyzed. On the basis of these,a multiobjective optimization model is constructed, and the characteristics of library buildings in cold regions are sampled and investigated, optimization strategies are formulated, the performance objectives are determined, and the decision parameters are selected.Secondly, the multi-objective optimization software model of the library building in cold regions is constructed, including the parameteric geometric model, performance simulation model and genetic optimization model.Eventually, the multi-objective optimization model is applied to verify the design practice of the library building space in cold regions. With Rhino and Grasshopper as the modeling platform, the library building design aims at achieving high daylighting performance and low energy consumption level. The daylighting and energy consumption are optimized for decision parameters related to space, cutting space position and cutting span, the non-dominated solution set is obtained and it is validated based on optimization results. The application effect of multi-objective optimization method based on the performance simulation in the design of complex vertical space form of library buildings in severe cold regions is verified. It could provide reference for the research of simulation-based optimization of buildings and guidance of complex vertical space optimum design scheme of library buildings in severe cold regions.
