Since the implementation of the policy of enrollment expansion in China,the campus construction of colleges and universities has ushered in a new stage of development,in which the catering space of colleges and universities has also undergone several stages of reform.However,with the change of people's consumption concepts and lifestyles,contemporary college students also have more diversified demands for catering space in colleges and universities.In the existing catering space of colleges and universities,the status quo of idle spaces has emerged because they cannot meet the needs of users.The idle spaces cause waste of campus resources.At this time,how to transform and reuse the idle dining space is particularly important.Therefore,it is urgent to explore a new spatial mode to activate the idle dining space and make it meet the diversified needs of students.First of all,the article expounds the research background,research purpose and significance of the subject,analyzes the domestic research status of domestic catering space renovation design and excellent foreign cases,and clarifies the content and method of the subject research.On the basis of understanding the basic characteristics of the catering space in colleges and universities,the current situation of the use of catering space and the needs of the main users of China University of Mining and Technology were investigated.And analyze the current problems and causes of the idle catering space.Secondly,using the results of investigation and analysis of student needs as a realistic basis,from the perspective of revitalizing the idle dining space in colleges and universities,the concept of "Multi-bar" is proposed,and the connotation and characteristics of the concept are interpreted.Using the features of compatibility,permeability and ambiguity in the concept of " Multi-bar ",this paper provide design methods for the transformation of idle catering spaces from three aspects: function implantation and continuity,space integration and reconstruction,and business model update.Finally,the design method summarized above was put into practice in the reconstruction plan of the third floor of Taoyuan canteen of China University of Mining and Technology.Through the exploration of the transformation and reuse of idle catering space,the concept of " Multi-bar " space that meets the diverse needs of students is proposed,and the function,form and mode of the idle catering space are redefined to achieve the purpose of effective utilization of campus space resources.At the same time,it provides a new way of thinking for the renewal and development of catering space in colleges and universities.The paper has 76 figures,2 tables and 55 references.
