China’s higher education has made great progress from the revitalization of education to the establishment of schools in other places,and the construction of campus buildings and infrastructure has also increased.College canteen is an important public building in the campus,and the dining space in the canteen not only provides a dining area for teachers and students,but also a public activity platform integrated selfstudy,rest and entertainment.The combination of functions leads to the increase of canteen operating time and building energy consumption,so the appeal of energysaving design is very urgent.Natural ventilation provides fresh air for the room under the action of natural driving force,which can effectively improve thermal comfort and is a healthy and energy-saving passive regulation way.There are many college canteens in Chongqing;however,it is difficult to improve thermal comfort in the room by using natural ventilation because the outdoor wind speed is small and the dining space of the canteen is large,and the appropriate ventilation design strategy is required to improve the effect of natural ventilation.Therefore,with the purpose of improving the effectiveness of natural ventilation of the dining space in the canteen,this paper studies the relevant design elements and puts forward the design strategies and management suggestions for the dining space of college canteens in Chongqing.This paper is divided into five parts as below:The first chapter is the background research.Firstly,the research background of this paper was expounded from three aspects,including the construction demand of college canteens,thermal environment and natural ventilation.And then,the research scope was defined,the relevant literature was reviewed,and the current research progress and shortcomings as well as the contents to be studied in this paper were pointed out.The second chapter is the basic research.The design elements related to natural ventilation in the dining space of college canteens were preliminarily summarized through the theoretical research on the climate characteristics of Chongqing,the design characteristics of dining space in college canteens,and the basic principles of natural ventilation;at the same time,the evaluation indicators used to evaluate the effectiveness of natural ventilation in the dining space of canteens were defined,which laid a solid foundation to the following chapters.The third chapter is the investigation and measurement.This part mainly carried out two stages of investigation and measurement: the first stage is a typical feature research.20 canteen samples in Chongqing were selected for field investigation,the performance of relevant design elements proposed in the second chapter in practical cases was focused on,and the key research elements in this paper were further screened out.This part of investigation also provided a reference for the design of the basic model in the simulation stage.The second part is the thermal environment investigation.Firstly,the current situation and characteristics of the thermal environment in the dining space of college canteens under natural ventilation was studied through the measurement in summer and transition season.Secondly,the comfortable temperature range of diners and non-diners was obtained by using the method of combining subjective thermal comfort evaluation with measured data.Finally,the modified model of PMV was obtained with the actual thermal sensation vote and PMV linear regression.The fourth chapter is the simulation research.The typical model of the dining space of college canteens was established based on the field investigation results.Then,several groups of working condition models were established for simulation analysis in terms of the research elements of five aspects,such as the overall layout,spatial scale,ventilation window,wind deflector and vertical cavity of the dining space of canteens.The influence law of each element on indoor natural ventilation effect was obtained through the comparative study of calculation data,which provided the basis for the proposal of design strategy.The fifth chapter is the design strategy research.Based on the field investigation,measurement of thermal environment and software simulation in the preceding part,and combing with the relevant cases and research results,the design strategies that are conducive to natural ventilation of the dining space of college canteens in Chongqing as well as the management suggestions of active and passive coordination adjustment in the operation phase were put forward.
