Study On Space Pattern And Architectural Culture Of Residential Houses In Shanxi Courtyard

As an important branch of traditional Chinese dwellings,Shanxi Compound is a typical form of architecture among residential buildings,which provides physical material for understanding the habits of living and production as well as their history at that time.Due to the long history and its advantaged natural and cultural environment of Shanxi Province,large-scale compounds with strong regional characteristics have been formed there.Their beautiful construction environment and unique architectural form reflect unique cultural characteristics and humanistic connotations in all aspects.Influenced by factors such as social humanity environment,religious beliefs and customs,these residential houses enjoy relatively high scientific,artistic and historical value.Therefore,this research is of great practical and scientific significance for summarizing the construction experience of traditional compounds,revealing the mechanism and laws of Chinese traditional residential construction,inheriting excellent historical and cultural heritage,as well as promoting the development of local economy.Taking more than thirty compounds in Shanxi province as examples,the thesis analyzes and summarizes their space patterns and architectural culture from their village view,courtyard space,architectural form and decorative culture through field mapping and investigation.In addition,it seeks the spatial memory of these residential houses from the perspective of sociology in order to provide useful reference for not only the renovation of these residential buildings,but the protection,inheritance and development of the courtyard culture.
