In recent years,China has continuously promoted the strategy of new-type urbanization and rural revitalization,and the development of small and medium-sized cities has undergone tremendous and gratifying changes.At the same time,many small and medium-sized cities are in deep development difficulties.As the "connection point" between big cities and villages and towns,small and medium-sized cities play a decisive role in the overall development of the country.At present,the problems faced by small and medium-sized cities in China mainly come from the disconnection between the change trend of the environment and the development of cities themselves in the process of rapid development.Under the background of "stock planning",stock renewal of small and medium-sized cities has gradually become a "threshold" necessary for the realization of development.This paper aims to provide a breakthrough point to solve the dilemma of urban renewal based on the research of the background of urban renewal in small and medium-sized cities,and provide support for the city to successfully cross this "threshold" through means of traffic improvement.The main contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:1.Clarify the renewal background of small and medium-sized cities.Most of the theories related to urban renewal at home and abroad are based on the practical experience of large cities.At present,the three types of renewal in China's small and medium-sized cities(transformation and renewal centering on industrial transformation,improvement and renewal centering on internal functions,and quality renewal centering on urban upgrading)correspond to various small and medium-sized cities in different development stages and with different development needs.In view of the complex background of small and medium-sized cities,this paper proposes that the first goal of small and medium-sized cities' renewal is to solve the internal function problem,and the second is to improve the city quality on this basis.2.Establish the relationship between traffic improvement and urban renewal in small and medium-sized cities.This article selects the traffic improvement as a breakthrough point,through the analysis of network structure,traffic accessibility,traffic facilities,special design these four factors of traffic and urban space layout,land function,urban services,city image corresponding relation between the four urban renewal requirements,it is concluded that traffic improvement under the background of small and medium-sized cities to update can be built as a starting point for strategy.3.Build traffic improvement strategies for small and medium-sized cities under the background of urban renewal.According to the updated spatial layout,the improvement of road network structure can be carried out from three aspects: promoting the balance between occupation and residence,optimizing road structure,and making rational use of road network nodes.In view of the improvement of the core of the old city,the improvement of local transportation can be carried out from two aspects: giving priority to the development of public transportation and establishing a slow-moving and friendly central area.The improvement of transportation facilities aiming at the improvement of urban service ability can be carried out from the optimization of public transportation facilities and parking facilities.Aiming at the optimization of urban order,the improvement of road intersections can be carried out from the capacity of intersections and traffic management.According to the city image beautification characteristic road design mainly from the slow line design and the city node strengthening and so on three aspects carries on.
