Under the background of economic globalization,China’s foreign direct investment has developed at a faster pace.The promulgation of the “One Belt,One Road” strategy has become a booster for China’s foreign direct investment to accelerate its running.How to make better foreign direct investment has become the focus of multinational companies.Coupled with continuous innovation in production,information,marketing and other technologies,the various joints of products ranging from R&D,assembly,manufacturing to marketing and service can be divided into the world,and the concept of global value chain has been formed.Faced with large spatial differences and many influencing factors,the inclusion of global value chain factors in the factors affecting foreign direct investment decisions will help enterprises to better foreign direct investment.China’s home appliance enterprises have been embedded in the global value chain by OEM.They have been in the low value-added part of the global value chain smile curve.If you want to achieve transformation and upgrading,you can distribute all links of the value chain through the location of foreign direct investment.all around the world.As one of the first Chinese companies to go global,Qingdao Haier has rich experience in foreign direct investment and has certain reference value.Therefore,this paper selects Haier as a case company and based on the global value chain perspective,the motivation and investment of Haier in direct foreign investment.The analysis of location,investment history and investment results has drawn certain conclusions,providing ideas for China’s home appliance enterprises to better carry out overseas direct investment and realize global value chain transformation and upgrading.
