With the rapid growth of container operations, the international port investment market has been developing simultaneously.Nowadays the terminals invested and operated by the global terminal operators have been worldwide, and they are still trying to speed the pace of market expansion.And over the years, Chinese government has been actively encouraging enterprises to carry on the strategy of "going out "and "bringing in ".From the perspective of domestic and international aspects, the conditions for Chineses port enterprises entering into the international terminal investment market are mature at present,however the pace is not enough.lt is profitable to invest terminals overseas,and at the same time it can disperse the risks of business.And it is a project which is easy to forward and retreat,therefore it is necessary for Chinese port enterprises to identify the opportunities and speed up the pace.As for the problem of overseas investment. the major problems are to find solutions for where to invest and how to invest, and this paper will focus on the key questions of overseas terminal investment for Chinese port enterprises, and provide suggestions and strategies for their internaitonal expension.Therefore it has an important practical significance.This paper firstly analysies the status and charateristics of top global terminal operators, then emphasizes the relavant theories of locational choice and entry mode of enterprises, and explain the theories specifically for overseas terminal investment,and based on these theories, the paper tries to formulate the evaluation forms of factors affecting locational choice and entry mode of port overseas investment. Through questionnare survey and depth interview,we investigate the views and opinions of port operational executives and expertises in relavant fields, and let the experts evaluate and score the factors in the forms, and use principal component analysis model on the questionnaire and analysis and count the questionnares by SPSS 17.0, so as to determine the weight of the factors in the forms.Finally the paper provides supports and reference on determinations of terminal overseas investment of Chinese port enterprises.
