Taking the example of the body perception raised by the Memorial of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre, this study is focused on contemporary memorial space based on body perception, which include factors and significance related to body perception in contemporary memorial space and its design methods.Firstly, factors related to body perception of the memorial of the victims in Qingliang Mountain are analyzed, interpreting the origin of intimate perception of the mourners from the perspective of design theory and values. Then, using the method of Semantic Differential, the body perception of 12 memorials of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre is investigated, and an index system is built to measure the index of body perception of the above cases.Additionally,by using SPSS software to verify the significant positive correlation between body perception intimacy and space vitality, the practical significance of body perception is revealed to improve the present situation of contemporary memorial space. At last, through perception representation and comparison combined with case studies, design methods of contemporary memorial space are explored, which propose relevant design principles and strategies.Instead of expressing monumentality overly,a tendency of contemporary moderate memorial space connected with body perception is revealed and elaborated.Compared with monumental space, memorial space related to body perception is far more intimate and peaceful.
