With the continuous improvement of urbanization in China,urban land use type has changed a lot,resulted in the increase of impervious ground.Rainwater can not infiltrate into the ground naturally,but converge on the surface and generate runoff.When the capacity of the drainage system is exceeded,waterlogging will occur and endangering the personal and property safety of residents.Residential area is one of the main types of urban land use,accounting for a high proportion of urban construction land.Therefore,the residential area is an important carrier of sponge city practice and one of the main sources of urban water environment management.The landscape environment of urban residential areas are gaining more attention.the proportion of waterscape design has increased,causing more demand for water.The world’s theory and practice on stormwater management have achieved certain results,and have developed a variety of theoretical systems including low-impact development,water sensitive urban design,sustainable urban drainage systems,and sponge cities.There were many excellent stormwater landscape design theories and cases in urban residential areas.The stormwater management theories and the application of stormwater landscape design in China are still preliminary and need more theoretical research and application.This article also discussed the basic design principles and goals for the combination of stormwater management facilities and landscape design,and their realization form.Hangzhou is the main research area of this article.Field research has been done to analyze the current situation of the application of stormwater facilities and landscape design in the residential areas of Hangzhou.Targeted design strategies has comprehensively considered of Hangzhou’s natural hydrological and climatic characteristics.Finally,a conceptual evolution design of a constructed community was build for the further studies of the application of stormwater management and landscape system construction in practice.Based on modern stormwater management theory,this article draws on worldwide excellent cases,summarized the methods of stormwater management and landscape design for urban residential areas that suits for China’s urban development.This article contains design theories and strategies from meso to micro,advocating the connection of relatively independent facilities,establishing an overall urban stormwater management network system,and discussing the organic combination of stormwater management and landscape design,and summing up the development of Chinese cities stormwater management and landscape design methods in urban residential areas,with a view to providing references for stormwater landscape design in urban residential areas.
