Streets not only have transportation functions, but also serve as an important part of urban public space. It is a must-have for citizens to reach various places from home, and it carries most of the civic life.Walking is the most basic mode of transportation and an important way of communication in the city.In recent years, whether it is from the perspective of sustainable development of the city or the health of the citizens,it is an irresistible trend to improve the walking environment and encourage walking.Building a pedestrian-friendly street space is a prime condition for encouraging walking. The street space in the business district is the most concentrated and crowded street in the city.Selecting it as the research object can find the problem, analyze the problem and solve the problem. This paper combines the demand theory represented by Mason's human needs hierarchy with the PSPL field survey results to classify the needs of pedestrians in the street space of commercial districts.Based on the results of this classification, combined with the excellent street space design at home and abroad, the concept of walking suitability is summarized.specific contents. Finally, based on the actual situation of Shenzhen street design and construction, the core street space design elements are summarized, and the optimization design method is proposed. It consists of four chapters: The first chapter introduces the research background, research purposes and research significance;limits the scope of research, clarifies the research entry points;summarizes relevant research at home and abroad;and clarifies the research ideas and framework of the full text. The second chapter is divided into two parts: theoretical research and on-site investigation. The theoretical research combines Mason's demand hierarchy theory with other pedestrian demand theories. The field research adopts the PSPL method to select different types of street spaces in Shenzhen for the specific walking environment.Evaluation the two parts of the content are derived from the level of walking demand in the street space of the commercial district. The third chapter describes the specific content of walking suitability based on the level of walking demand. The corresponding requirements are also divided into two levels: the suitability of the passage and the suitability of the activity. The fourth chapter extracts the corresponding specific design elements and optimization methods based on the content of the concept of walking suitability, and attempts to integrate these techniques into the actual process in combination with the urban design process in Shenzhen.Good street space not only provides pedestrians with an efficient and fair walking environment, but also a generator of social activities.A vibrant and vibrant street is one of the hallmarks of a healthy development that requires pedestrians to create. The research in this paper is aimed at the bottom-up and put forward concepts and design methods for how pedestrians really need street space design,in the hope that this research can have a positive effect on improving the pedestrian environment of urban street space.
