The Xiaohe Ancient Road is located at the junction of three provinces of Hunan,Guangdong and Guangxi. It was built in the Qin Dynasty and has a long history. It is an important channel for ancient Central Plains to communicate with Lingnan. With the rapid progress of urbanization construction, the Xiaohe Ancient Road gradually loses its position as a major traffic lane, facing prominent problems such as severe fragmentation of the road system, weak overall image and uneven protection status. The heritage corridor is a product of the combination of green corridors and regional protection of heritage. It can not only protect the natural ecological environment and cultural heritage, but also promote regional economic development. It provide a new idea for the protection and rational use of Xiaohe Ancient Road.Under the guidance of the heritage corridor theory, the study combed the development history and heritage resources of Xiaohe Ancient Road. The author use the Minimum Cumulative Resistance to discuss the construction of heritage corridors. This result provides data support and scientific reference for the overall protection and sustainable use of ancient road heritage resources.Firstly, the study sorted out the development process of the Xiaohe Ancient Road. From the Qin Dynasty to the early Tang Dynasty,it was the heyday of the Xiaohe Ancient Road development. At that time,Xiaohe Ancient Road had an important position in military, political, and economic fields. However, due to the shift of the political center and the opening of new channels, the Xiaohe Ancient Road has been declining since the Tang Dynasty. It gradually become a channel for business and private exchanges.Secondly, through documentation and field visits,a total of 231 cultural heritages were registered and identified.Further statistical analysis of the heritage shows that the heritage of the Xiaohe Ancient Road is rich in type and has a long history and precious value. It also has the characteristics of uneven distribution and agglomeration in each county.Combined with the actual terrain and heritage of the area, costruct a network of 330 potential heritage corridors by using the methods of the Minimum Cumulative Resistance and GIS spatial analysis.According to the distribution characteristics of heritage sources and potential heritage corridors and combined with the actual traffic road network and water network layout in the area, five main heritage corridors and several secondary heritage corridors were selected to form Heritage Corridor Network. At the same time, based on the linear relationship between the heritage point and the corridor space, determine the suitable width of the heritage corridor to be 2-5km and devided the heritage area into the core area(0-2km),the buffer zone(2-5km)and the edge area(5-10 km).According to the current situation of Xiaohe Ancient Road and the distribution characteristics of the corridor network,it propose a spatial protection strategy of regional(macro)-corridor(middle view)-heritage site(micro)integration. At the macro level, starting from the whole Xiaohe Ancient Road, taking the area as a unit,it proposes a targeted zoning protection strategy for the core area, buffer zone, and edge area.At the meso level,Taking the spatial structure as the guide and using the corridor as the skeleton, the corridor ecological mechanism is maintained as a whole, and different protection and utilization strategies are adopted for the five main corridor characteristics. At the micro level,Emphasis is placed on highlighting localities, with heritage points as the core, three kinds of heritage protection methods are targeted, and according to the spatial characteristics of the heritage,a group development model is adopted to achieve rational utilization of cultural heritage.
