With the development of the reform of middle school education system in China,the curriculum system of general middle school in China has gradually formed a "three-level curriculum system" consisting of national curriculum,local curriculum and school-based curriculum.As a result,local and school-based curriculum gradually appear as an important part in curriculum system of the middle schools.This kind of middle school curriculums are commonly known as middle school characteristic curriculum.However,the design of education space in traditional middle schools still stays in the level of examination oriented education system aiming at the acceptance of national standard courses.In recent years,with the promotion of the importance and the gradual expansion of the characteristic curriculum in middle school,the traditional teaching room is increasingly unable to adapt to the continuous improvement of the teaching content in the characteristic curriculum.In this context,traditional middle school campuses have adjusted and transformed the original teaching room space for the new characteristic courses.The newly-built middle school campuses also adopt more innovative and adaptive education space design in view of the possible development of characteristic curriculum content in the future.In recent years,the design of special education space for middle school characteristic courses has gradually become an important hot spot in the design of middle school education space.On the basis of field research and case study,this paper summarizes the main types and teaching modes of the current middle school characteristic courses,and puts forward the space function and environment atmosphere which are required by the corresponding types of courses.Under the guidance of those problems,from the macro to the micro level,there are three levels of the overall space organization ——the specific layout of the teaching space unit,plane functional organization of the buildings,and the space that the characteristic courses needs.Through improving the design of those education space,to fulfill the functional requirements and create the learning atmosphere.Finally,as the practice and test of the theory,the research results of the middle school characteristic curriculum education space design are applied to the specific practice,and the design points are summarized as the reference for more similar projects in the future.
