Research On The Strategy Of Organic Renewal Of Public Space In Beijing Old City Under The Concept Of "Urban Double Repair"

At present,China’s urbanization rate is close to 60%,and some cities in China have begun to enter a development mode that shifts from incremental development to stock renewal.In this respect,the 2015 Central City Working Conference put forward new urban development concepts and directions centered on urban double repair(urban repair,ecological restoration).Urban public space,as the main place for the public life of urban citizens,is the key to creating a harmonious,liveable,vibrant and distinctive modern city.Therefore,it must also be the object of urban renewal research and the focus of work.In recent years,China’s urban renewal practice under the guidance of the "urban dual repair" concept has achieved many achievements.However,due to the lack of theoretical research in "urban dual repair",problems such as shallow analysis of urban problems and simplification of urban dual repair strategies have also appeared.On this basis,this article first defines and elaborates related concepts such as "urban dual repair","public space" and "organic renewal" in the introduction.Plus,the research scope and object of organic renewal of public space in Beijing’s old city based on the concept of "double urban repair" are clarified,and the theory of urban renewal based on the "urban double repair" concept is not a simple urban environment improvement but a comprehensive and multilevel urban update concept.Also,the second chapter reviews the theory of urban renewal at home and abroad related to the "urban dual repair" concept,analyzes the theoretical origin,evolution process,and connotative characteristics of "urban dual repair",and summarizes the current "urban dual repair" work in theory and practice deficiencies.Hence,the third chapter selects the public space in the area along the south section of Beijing’s central axis as a research sample,and comprehensively analyzes the problems existing in the public space in the area.In the next chapter,combined with the concept of "urban dual repair",a theoretical framework for organic renewal of public space in Beijing’s old cities is proposed,which focuses on ecological restoration,functional repair,spatial darn repair,cultural awakening,and social restoration.Furthermore,the fifth chapter and the sixth chapter apply this theory to the practice of organic renewal of public space in the area along the southern part of Beijing’s central axis,which verifies and feed backs the theory.Finally,it is pointed out that the theory of urban organic renewal based on the concept of "urban dual repair" is a comprehensive and multilevel urban renewal concept,which will definitely provide useful reference for China’s urban construction in the new period.
