With the briliant development of society and economy, the contradictions such as scarcity of newly-built land in cities, rising land prices, reduced green space, and traffic congestion have become increasingly acute, and the development and utilization of underground space is an effective way to alleviate the contradictions in urban development and construction. For the higher education institutions in Guangzhou, the static traffic pressure on campus brought by the continuous increase in the number of students, faculty and staff, and the difficulty of understanding the parking facilities in the early construction, and the difficulty of developing and utilizing underground space in the existing buildings. For this reason, there are often unfavorable phenomena such as disordered parking of vehicles and traffic delays on campus, affecting the campus’ s ecological space and campus image, and even causing hidden dangers to the traffic safety of faculty, students, and students. In order to solve this problem, this paper creatively proposes the strategy of designing parking garages using the space under the track and field of colleges and universities to improve the quality of campus space and the learning and working environment of teachers and students. This subject is based on the literature research method, survey method, induction method and practical research method combined with multiple design practices that the author participated in during his postgraduate study.Through detailed analysis of the actual needs and design difficulties of the parking space design under the track and field sports field in Guangzhou colleges and universities, the application strategy This paper puts forward a method combining with practical application research, puts forward specific refinement strategies and methods to overcome design constraints, and conducts practical verification. This article is divided into three parts for research. The first part of the text is the status quo study. It sorts out the history and future trends of the planning and construction of Guangzhou universities. It selects three representative universities in Guangzhou to conduct field surveys and analyzes the current status of static traffic in Guangzhou universities.Forecast, the necessity and feasibility of underground transportation of static traffic in colleges and universities in Guangzhou. The second part is the problem research. It summarizes the constraints of the design of the parking garage under the track and field of colleges and universities, and points out five types of design problems: early loopholes in the project, difficulties in transportation organization, common engineering problems, inherent limitations of underground space, and environmental pollution. The third part is the strategy research, aiming at the five types of design difficulties proposed in the third part, the five aspects of project preparation, entrance and exit layout and traffic organization design, garage engineering design under track and field venues, humanized design to environmental design are proposed respectively.Ideas and strategies to effectively deal with the challenges and tests in the design. Finally,an empirical study of the strategy is conducted in conjunction with the engineering practice projects in which the author participates to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the strategy. It is hoped that the study of this topic can provide a reference for the use of underground space in sports areas of colleges and universities, and also provide a reference for related colleges’ micro-renovation and micro-renewal project construction.
