Three Landscapes Realm Of Gardens In Song Dynasty Paintings

During the Song Dynasty,Chinese painting,poetry,and gardening have reached a brand new level."Chinese culture has evolved over thousands of years,and it has been created in the Zhao and Song dynasties.",Chen Yinke said,a famous historian.Painting and gardening during Song Dynasty are close to each other because of they created by same theories and influence each other during the development.Painters are also the appreciators and builders of gardens.Painting is an image recorder of an era without high technology.These clear and intuitive images provide evidence for the inheritance of garden culture and the restoration of famous gardens,and also make up for the research shortage.This article attempts to image interpret Song paintings to discern the objects,situation and artistic conception of Song Dynasty gardens.The thesis researches the garden scenes and elements in the book "Complete Collection of Song Paintings" to analyzes physical environment,atmosphere and artistic conception the garden view contained in Song paintings.Gardens First aspect is physical environments.Extract the garden elements in Song paintings,analysis cases through statistics to understand the garden elements' proportion to establish the intimate relationship between paintings and gardens in Song dynasty.The second aspect is atmosphere.Analyzing people's activities in the garden which the paintings shows can reflects the change of paintings' themes and people-oriented concept when building a garden.Garden space is essential for garden activities,no matter it is a natural environment or an artificial environment,it can reflect people's pursuit of an ideal garden environment.This paper discussed "people-oriented" view and the pursuit of quality life in Song dynasty.The third aspect is gardens ' artisticconception.Going deep into the expression of the painting to understand gardens' connotation the painters conveyed from the painter's background and creative intention;then analyze the similarities between the painting theory the gardening theory,and metaphysics expressed by painting technique to understand the humanistic view of the spiritual realm.At last,this paper summarized the garden view expressed in Song paintings.
