Research On Spatial Form,Conservation And Utilization Of Traditional Villages In Mountainous Areas Of Eastern Zheiiang Province

Traditional village,a treasure of the Chinese nation,is the material space carrier of Chinese traditional culture.Zhejiang has a vast territory and a varied topography,featured by mountains in its majority with limited water resources and farmlands.There are a large number of traditional villages in Eastern Zhejiang,where hills and mountainous are the typical terrain.With the rapid progress of urbanization and the improvement of social economic conditions,people have higher requirements for living condition.However,traditional villages are being destroyed because of the eager for quick success of new countryside construction and the lack of deep understanding of cultural and historical value.Many developments and constructions are not in harmony with the shape and style of traditional villages.This study takes thirteen well-preserved traditional villages in southwest mountainous area of Xinchang County as the research object.The characteristics of site selection and landscape pattern in traditional villages were studied,deducing three different types of traditional villages in the southwest mountainous area of Xinchang County.The causes and influence factors of spatial form of traditional villages are analyzed.At the micro level,the space texture of traditional villages is deconstructed,from the aspects of Street space,Water network,group buildings and basic form of folk dwelling.Based on the practical problems existing in the protection,this article discusses practical strategies for better protection,renewal and utilization of traditional villages.This paper mainly analyzes the spatial form and historical context of the traditional villages in the southwest mountainous area of Xinchang County,points out that the protection principles of authenticity and vividness are needed for protections of the regional cultural characteristics and village heritage.Also,we provide a feasible way for the renewal and development of the traditional villages in mountainous areas of Eastern Zhejiang Province.
