In the past few years,Shanghai has issued the "white paper" on slow traffic,Beijing has established the special bike lane,and Chongqing has formulated the planning on the trail system in the mountainous city,i.e."one ring road,five horizontal roads and twelve vertical roads".In addition to those practices,many other cities are following this trend to take corresponding measures to help slow traffic return to the urban traffic system with new functional orientation.However,the construction of slow traffic is comparably tardy in mountainous city as a result of their topographic features and special traffic structures.It has become an urgent matter for mountainous city to establish a slow traffic system that is suitable for their own urban characteristics,so as to alleviate their increasingly severe traffic jam and environment pollution problems.The paper starts from the concept of the slow traffic system in mountainous city and tries to make some explicit discrimination and analysis of the respective features of the two concepts of mountainous city and slow traffic.It makes a contrast between two types of cities,i.e.mountainous city and plain city,with regard to their difference in the inhabitants' number of getting around as well as their corresponding purposes,distances and modes.On this basis,it draws a conclusion on the traffic characters of the mountainous city and then summarizes and analyzes the features of the slow traffic in mountainous city.After a comparative analysis of some different prediction methods,the paper chooses one prediction method which is suitable for the slow traffic in mountainous city-space syntax.It formulates a prediction model.The paper proceeds with the design of the slow traffic system in mountainous city after the analysis of characters of the slow traffic in mountainous city and the establishment of the prediction model.In the design,detailed analysis and planning is made for construction and development of the walk and bike lane in mountainous city from the three perspective of macro,middle and micro views so as to make it systematic.Finally,the research results are applied to the design of the slow traffic system in Dalian City.With the analysis of the current conditions and characteristics of the slow traffic system in Dalian City,and makes some predictive analysis of the area in Dalian City,the researcher conducts the designing for the slow traffic system in Dalian City so as to verify the practicality of this paper on the research and design of the slow traffic system in mountainous city.
