Vegetation dyeing technology,one of our country’s key traditional technology,began in the Stone Age and declined in the period of Republic of China,witnessing the historical changes and cultural development of China.In the modern life,the vegetation dyed product has gradually received more and more consumers’ affection due to its unique artistic charm and characteristics of health and environmental protection.For consumers,vegetation dyed products are not only products to meet the functional needs,but also represent the pursuit of healthy life style returning to nature.Based on the investigation of the production technology,development history and development prospect of vegetation dyed products,this paper analyzes the development status and problems in the design of vegetation dyed products,and tries to design more suitable vegetation dyed products for modern consumers by using the principle of Kansei Engineering.Based on the principle of Kansei Engineering,this paper puts forward a design model from understanding perceptual evaluation to clarifying perceptual demand,and then to perceptual testing.Firstly,to understand the perceptual evaluation is to understand the modern consumer’s evaluation of traditional vegetation dyed products.The perceptual evaluation is to define the evaluation dimensions,contents and preferences of modern consumers to traditional vegetation dyed products through cluster analysis,factor analysis and regression analysis,so as to extract favorable factors from traditional vegetation dyed products and apply them to new designs.Secondly,clarifying the perceptual demand refers to clarifying the perceptual demand of modern consumer on the vegetation dyed products.In the perceptual demand experiment,taking the vegetation dyed pillow as an example,this paper collects the experimental data through interviews,analyzes the interview content by content analysis method and grounded theory,summarizes and sorts out the substantive needs of consumers,and specifies the design direction for the vegetation dyed product design.Furthermore,the perceptual testing is mainly used to test whether the finished design of vegetation dyed products can meet consumers’ demand.In this paper,taking the vegetation dyed pillow as an example,the design of vegetation dyed pillow is completed by combining the research content of perceptual evaluation and perceptual demand,and whether the design results meet the needs of consumers is tested by questionnaire survey.Eventually,the research results show that it is feasible to understand the perceptual evaluation,clarify the perceptual demand,and finally test the perceptual design model for the design of vegetation dyedproducts.It will enhance the design of vegetation dyed products,and is of positive effect and referential value for the design of other traditional craft products.
