Research On Architectural Design For The Aged Based On Psychological Demands Of Aged People

China is a state of ceremonies.Respecting the old and loving the old are always good traditional virtues of the Chinese nation.As the Confucian master,Mencius,said: “expend the respect of the aged in one’s family to that of other families”,since the economy of China is developing rapidly,a large number of builders of new China are getting old.However,the current residential construction of the elderly in China has not followed the pace of rapid development of the society,even worse than that,which is unable to meet the physiological and psychological needs of the elderly increasingly.China stays in the early stage of the development of aged care architecture.The reasonable and comfortable planning and design of aged care architecture pose the significant influence on social old-age care in the future.Therefore,the architectural designer shall create a suitable living environment for the elderly in the future design process,so that the elderly could truly realize the ideal state of "making elders enjoy support,entertainment,independence,achievement and easiness" nationwide.The paper,based on the analysis of the physiological and psychological characteristics of the aged and the psychological needs of the elderly,discussed the background and problems of current aged care architecture and analyzed the relationship between the aged architecture and the aged psychological needs with the combination of Chinese aging development status.In addition,the design objectives and methods of aged architecture were proposed,which provided some new thoughts for the development and design of aged architecture.It is hoped that more attention could be paid by architects and development enterprises,so as to design the feature aged care architectures in accordance with China’s national situation,on this basis,the purpose of improving the living environment for current elders can be achieved.
