With approximate 90% of world trade being carried by vessels,the development of maritime transport and port industries is pivotal to the global economy.As is known that ports are constructed along coasts,undoubtedly the seaport sustainable development is one key component of coastal and ocean sustainable development,and also be the significant part of the coastal zone management.This paper redefined the connotation and extension of port’s sustainable development ability.Based on the principle of sustainable development indicator system,building the evaluation system to measure the port sustainability,which included factors of ports infrastructure condition,port operation capacity,port operation efficiency,port city development and environmental governance level.The indicators of the system are highly operable and practical with authoritative data source,which can describe and compare the real condition of evaluation objects.Moreover,the indicator system also considered the integration of different statistics system including domestic and Hong Kong statistics system,increasing the international applicability.On the basis of the above system,this paper analyzes 7 seaports in Pearl River Delta Port Group by Clustering and Principal Component Analysis Methodology,and measure the sustainable development ability of the ports.Result indicates that Shenzhen Port,Guangzhou Port,and Hong Kong Port rank top 3.Among all the factors of port sustainable development,the principal one is the development of port city,the second one is port infrastructure condition,following with port operation ability and environmental governance level.To sum up,the port sustainability is vitally interrelated with port itself,port city and ecological development,port stakeholders and coastal zone management sectors are supposed to pay more attention to port structural adjustment and resource integration based on the current development condition to strengthen the ability of port sustainable development. |
