Urban infrastructures provide the city with the necessary public services,so infrastructure is important to the social economy and the lives of the people.Factors such as the economy and resources limit the building scale and speed of new infrastructure. In addition, the built infrastructure must face rising public service pressures. The maintenance and management of infrastructure has become a hot research topic. To improve the maintenance and management efficiency of infrastructure, researchers must first solve the utilization efficiency of various maintenance information, and secondly, develop intelligent automatic management algorithms, and use the computing advantages of computers to help managers effectively maintain and manage the infrastructure. In the recent time, urban infrastructures have been operated via computer maintenance management systems(CMMS)or building automation systems(BAS).However,CMMS or BAS lack of convenient visualization and interoperability. This paper aims to propose an integrated system of building information modelling(BIM)and geographic information system(GIS)to improve the performance of current maintenance management workflow.A system framework of BIM-3DGIS is proposed and required maintenance management functions are also developed based on practice demands.A real case of utility tunnel is used to demonstrate the system. Two scenarios and a questionnaire survey are conducted to validate the applicability and practicability. Results show that the proposed BIM-3DGIS system can ensure effective maintenance works and have well potential applications.Fault diagnosis is also an essential task for effective building maintenance and facility management.Fault tree analysis(FTA)is a conventional method of fault diagnosis. But the traditional FTA is time consuming, due to it requires new analysis on new buildings, and has the problem of not well reusing the diagnosis knowledge and experience. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a semantic web approach to store and query the FTA knowledge as well as link FTA knowledge with building information model(BIM).FTA knowledge is stored in a proposed fault tree ontology(FTont)model. The data connection between FTont and BIM is realized by using common element objects and equivalent relationships. This method decouples the FTA and building as it can use the fault tree ontology to query new building information models and do not need to model specific fault tree for a building. Finally,a real case of utility tunnel is used to demonstrate the system. Results show that the proposed BIM-3DGIS system can ensure effective maintenance works and have well potential applications. This paper also takes an illustrative example, which query the fault tree ontology and building information model to get fault diagnosis result and potential risks,to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.
