Loess cave dwelling is a kind of civil building with a long history on the Loess Plateau.It was once praised as "the source of accommodation civilization" by sociologists with very strong regional characteristics.Loess cave can save land sufficiently and cost low,which is of great economic and social significance to alleviate the shortage of land resources,improve land use efficiency and promote regional economic development in northernShaanxi.However,due to the lack of unified technical specifications for site selection,construction and support of loess cave dwelling,there are many diseases in loess cave dwelling itself and the safety is not easy to guarantee.Based on the analysis of existing research results and on-the-spot investigation of loess cave dwellings in northern Shaanxi,this paper takes cliff-leaning loess cave dwellings as the main research object,sums up the basic characteristics of loess cave dwellings,analyzes the deformation and damage characteristics and influencing factors of loess cave dwellings,and holds that the safety and stability of loess cave dwellings are directly related to its internal factors-surrounding rock conditions and external factors of loess cave dwellings-the basic characteristics of the slope where loess cave dwellings are located and the risk of geological disasters.Based on the soil parameters and structural dimensions of loess cave dwellings in northern Shaanxi,the finite element model is established by using Midas(MIDAS/GTS)software.The stress distribution and deformation characteristics of surrounding rock of loess cave dwellings are studied.The influences of loess strata,water content,joints and other factors on the stability of surrounding rock of loess cave dwellings are further analyzed.The surrounding rock of loess cave dwellings is classified by comprehensive classification method.Based on the classification of surrounding rock of Loess cave,the stress and displacement characteristics of main parts of loess cave under different slope heights and angles are simulated and analyzed.Safety factors such as surrounding rock classification of loess cave dwelling,geometric characteristics of slope where loess cave dwelling is located and geological hazard risk and livable factors such as sunshine,water resources,transportation,trade,vegetation coverage are selected and comprehensively classified,thenthe suitability evaluation method of loess cave dwelling location is established.according to the above.Based on the systematic investigation of the protective measures and existing problems of loess cave dwellings in northern Shaanxi,the reinforcement measures for different surrounding rock grades of loess cave dwellings are proposed.At the same time,the protective measures of loess cave dwellings should be comprehensive,systematic and professional,and all protective measures should be used in coordination with each other.
