With the improvement of people's life quality and the increasing demand for traveling, tourists are becoming either younger or aging, presenting a social status of nationwide traveling.Traveling is becoming a necessity of leisure and entertainment for families. With the upgrade of tourism consumption, people's relative concept has also changed, focusing more on the quality of traveling.Public toilets are inevitable places on the trip. They not only need to meet the physiological need of tourists, but also need to satisfy their demands for leisure, culture and beauty appreciation, etc. In 2016,the National Tourism Administration proposed to accelerate the construction of unisex toilets in tourist attractions to solve the toileting problems of the particular group of people, who travel with family members of different genders, and one of whom may be disabled. The construction of the unisex toilets is supposed to satisfy the need to go to the toilet of different groups of people and make up the insufficiency of traditional toilets, which reflects that public service has extended to some neglected places.Their construction is expected to be beneficial to the improvement of the service function and quality of scenic spots, making the tourist attractions more friendly and comfortable. So far, some pilot unisex toilets have been built in most cities in China. However, according to the feedback of users, the facilities of unisex toilets can only meet the basic physiological need of people while the user experience, service quality and aesthetic sense are still pitifully inadequate.Because of the traditional concept, some people will mistake the sign including adults,a child and someone on a wheelchair for a sign of toilets for the disabled, which makes them dare not enter and use the unisex toilets. Therefore, people's cognitive limitation and the unpleasant user experience of unisex toilets couldn't bring a good reputation to this new type of facilities and then hinder the promotion of unisex toilets. In response to the above problems, this paper classifies the users of unisex toilets into four groups, including the aged, children, babies and assistants of the disabled. This study observed the users' individual behavior and group behavior of in unisex toilets. We explored their common demands and individual demands through their individual behavior, and explored their emotional and other deeper hidden demands through their group behavior.Wethen defied the public facilities in unisex toilets as elderly-oriented,children-oriented,babies-oriented and all-purposed based on different types of users, and had the four types of facilities as our design objects.Classifying the facilities corresponding to specific types of users can make the sanitation products more compatible with people's uses and expectation, and improve the public facilities' user experience as well as upgrading their service experience. From the background of this study, the development of unisex toilets is still in the primary stage. We tried to enhance user experience based on user behavior and promote tourism consumption through upgrading the quality of the facilities, which will lead to certain positive influence. As a result, the practical outcome of this study will have certain value of application and promotion.
