The Third Front Construction Of The 541 Project In Southern Shanxi Province And Its Comparative Study

Third front construction movement is a military industrial construction implemented in the inland areas in the specific historical environment of the 1960 s.Although Shanxi is close to the front line,due to its special geographical environment,complete industrial system and unique resource reserve,it has been classified into the third front construction and deployed several projects.As an important part of Shanxi's industrial economic development history,but the research on the third front construction and its industrial remains in Shanxi is almost blank.In this context,the paper selects “541 Project” as the research object.Firstly,after field research and documents interpretation,the author has a clear understanding of the history and the status of the research object,analyzes and summarizes the characteristics of the research object from the three levels of site selection,spatial form and architecture.Secondly,through the method of historical research,the research objects are included in the relevant historical environment,and the connection and characteristics of Shanxi's modern industrial,railway and national defense projects and research objects are explored.Furthermore,using the method of comparative research,the relevant historical facts of the development of China's worker welfare and the industrial migration during the World War II,and the case of the industrial remains of the "156 Project" in Taiyuan were studied as comparative objects,further expounding that the characteristics of the research object are the result of the fusion of substances and non-material factors.Finally,based on the above discussion,the heritage value of the research object is proposed.The conclusions of the paper are as follows,it is concluded that the geopolitical conditions and industrial base of Shanxi have played a decisive role in the selection of the research objects.The spatial form is different from the traditional unit compound under the influence of the executive will and administrative orders.The change of leadership system in the construction process directly changes the architectural design.The spatial change and adjustment of the residential building reflects the social phenomenon of the unit courtyard changing to the community.The distinctive expression of architectural features reflects the national economic and social thoughts in a specific historical period.Therefore,the research object has the industrial heritage value of history,society,architecture,science and technology,and aesthetics.
