Research On Guitang And Guitang Literati Gatherings

Guitang,the private garden of Xu Youren who was a well-known litterateur in the Yuan Dynasty,is significant and valuable for the research of literati gardens in the Yuan Dynasty.Meanwhile,Songs of Digging Pool(Guitang Ainai Ji in Chinese pinyin)collected the songs sung in Guitang by Xu Youren and his family members,which is a masterpiece of literature in the Yuan Dynasty.Hence,we hope that the research of Guitang and Guitang Collection of Works could make amends for the traditional literati garden research in the Yuan Dynasty.And through the analysis of the activities collected of the Guitang Collection of Works,we could deepen the understanding to the Yuan Dynasty literati gardens.Based on this,this article has carried on the thorough,the system discussion to it.First,The paper is first based on literature,In the big social and cultural background of the yuan dynasty discusses that how to return the classical gardens to the history and back to the specific historical circumstances at that time so as to experience the mentality of the owner and the design concept of the garden.And,this paper introduces the literati and gardens in the Yuan Dynasty and discusses the social background and mentality of literati in the Yuan Dynasty,as well as the construction of gardens in the same period in the Yuan Dynasty.This paper indicates the lifetime of Xu Youren,the owner of Guitang.And the purpose and design concept of Guitang are also recommended.For later analysis,conjecture guitang landscape construction and guitang gathering activities lay the foundation.Secondly,based on historical data and related poems of guitang,this paper analyzes and infers the garden layout and garden building elements of guitang,expounds the location and features of the twelve sceneries of guitang,draws the plan of guitang,and thinks that the garden-maker of guitang has obvious connecting features.On the one hand,the influence of traditional Confucianism on the concept of landscape architecture is the core.It consciously adheres to and abides by the core values and codes of conduct of Confucianism in the site selection and landscape architecture,reflecting the construction idea of putting loyalty and filial piety first and incorporating "benevolence" in landscape architecture.Guitang garden layout is founder,primary and secondary,building layout in a central location for fete activity place to admire the view,Duo mountain stone is not as garden accent,and build a complete water system lead into the living water the garden;The shape of the ponds is also founder,and the use of a rich variety of plants for landscaping,medicine beds,vegetable beds,these are following the northern song dynasty private garden to create a style.On the other hand,Guitang inherited the style of garden in the northern song dynasty,but also some innovation,mainly reflected in the naming of the garden.Named after the pond in the garden,Guitang is the great impact on the Ming and Qing gardens.Thirdly,combined with the garden layout and landscape construction of guitang,the main forms of activities in guitang are studied,according to the scale of the Yuan Dynasty,we obtain the corresponding conjectural plan of Guitang.On the basis of the songs collected in Guitang,we analyze and conclude that the garden activities recorded in the Guitang Collection of Works were divided into three aspects--feast and entertainment,solitude and habitation and landscape and sightseeing.The specific activities are drinking wine cups,dancing and playing music,thinking alone,throwing POTS,playing with flowers and plants,playing with stones and water,visiting and so on The main garden activity in Guitang,a private garden in Central Plains of the Yuan Dynasty,was the literati gatherings to sing poetry with drinking the wine.The combination of gardens and literature activities had become a ritualized and normalized activity.Its form and the resulting literature reflect the participants' reflections on society.Finally,the above research results are summarized,the deficiencies in the current research and the prospect of future research are proposed.With the vicissitude of history,Guitang has already disappeared in the vast history.Therefore,strengthening the research of Xu Youren and Guiyuan's construction has been a very valuable subject for the Yuan Dynasty garden which is a weak link in the history of Chinese gardens.It could help us understand the landscape of the Central Plains during the Yuan Dynasty.Understanding the literati's garden life in the Central Plains of the Yuan Dynasty,as well as the construction of living space,is of great significance for the modern garden design.It also provides theoretical support for the later design concept and makes the past serve the present.Let the ancient classical gardens and historical sites in central China go out of the dust,and activate them into contemporary gardens,as the carrier of Chinese civilization inheritance and innovation.
