Western Han inherited Qin's garden style and made great progress by imitating astronomical phenomena as possible. Design of Yuanzhongyuan and pattern of Yichi-sanshan left deep influence on later gardens. Primal private gardens were built by vassals and merchants prince, mostly copied the imperial ones' dimensions and contents. Garden technique dealing with rock and water has become popular. With a more complex atmosphere of thoughts, Eastern Han paid more attention to true life.
