Study On Urban Spatial Form And Evolution Of Wuzhou(Han Dynasty～the Republic Of China)

Wuzhou is the seat of Gucangwu County and Guguangxin County.Located at the intersection of Xijiang,Guijiang and Xunjiang rivers,Wuzhou is a famous cultural city with a history of more than 2100 years.Five years after the Han Dynasty(183 B.C.),Zhao Guang built the Cangwu Kingdom City here.After more than 1700 years of development,the Wuzhou City Site has not been moved,but has been expanding continuously on its original site.The city function has developed from the initial military castle to an important node of the ancient maritime Silk Road in the Tang and Song Dynasties,the two provincial governments in the Ming Dynasty and the foreign trade in the Qing Dynasty.Ports,the provincial capital of Guangxi in the period of the Republic of China,the function of the city is constantly changing,and the status of the city is constantly improving.As the "ancient capital of Lingnan culture",Wuzhou plays a very important role in the urban system of Xijiang River Basin.However,there is still a lack of comprehensive study on the planning history of Wuzhou ancient city for a long time.At present,a new round of urban history research has been started at home and abroad.This paper only focuses on this opportunity,launching the study of urban history of Wuzhou from the beginning of Han Dynasty to the Republic of China,in order to achieve the purpose of combing the development of urban spatial form of Wuzhou in an all-round way.Today,with the development of history,due to war,natural disasters and other factors,most of the ancient city ruins and historical and cultural buildings in Wuzhou have been destroyed,and a small part of the urban spatial pattern and buildings are still preserved,which has become an important part of the current urban historical protection in Wuzhou.Therefore,the study on the urban spatial form and its evolution of Wuzhou has important guiding significance for enriching the urban history and culture of Wuzhou,strengthening the protection of ancient buildings and blocks,and improving the quality of urban tourism resources development.Based on the urban function change of Wuzhou City in different historical periods,this paper focuses on the relationship between the urban spatial form change and urban function of Wuzhou City.The main contents of each chapter are as follows:Chapter Ⅰ,Introduction.This paper combs the relevant academic research results at home and abroad,analyses the relative shortcomings of the current research on Wuzhou urban history,and puts forward the solutions to the problems.Based on the multi-level meaning of urban form,the research framework,content and technical route of the paper are proposed.Chapter two,Wuzhou city geographical environment and city location.Combining Wuzhou local city(county)chronicles and ancient city pool maps in different historical periods,this paper combs the basis of ancient city site selection and the development process of ancient city from the aspects of geographical environment,military,political,economic and transportation,and summarizes and analyses the construction situation of Wuzhou in different historical periods.Chapter three,the evolution of Wuzhou urban space from Han Dynasty to Song Dynasty.According to the changing characteristics of Wuzhou city pool,this chapter elects three periods as time axis,which are Han,Tang and Song Dynasty.It focuses on the changes of Wuzhou city pool in these three stages.At the same time,it combs the population,military,political,commercial,religious,cultural and educational institutions that promote the spatial change of Wuzhou city in this historical period,and explores their inner city.Outside the distribution,in order to analyze the conditions of Wuzhou city planning.By restoring the ancient city walls and the forms of their constituent elements,the author concludes that the urban spatial form of Wuzhou from Han to Song Dynasty is crumby structure.Chapter Ⅳ,the evolution of urban space in Wuzhou during Ming and Qing Dynasties.The period of Ming and Qing Dynasty was the period of the greatest change in Wuzhou city,which benefited from the domestic environment at that time.Ming and Qing Dynasties are the period of continuous development of bridge technology.The large and small bridges built in Wuzhou City at that time provided convenience for people to travel,and also had a certain impact on the development of urban spatial form.In addition,this chapter also elaborates on the "three general government" in detail,and discusses the distribution of population,military,political,commercial,educational and other space during this period.In the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the urban space of Wuzhou was expanded only on the original basis,so its spatial form was still crumby structure.The fifth chapter is about the evolution of Wuzhou urban spatial form in the period of the Republic of China.During the period of the Republic of China,the development of Wuzhou’s City pools was the most special.In this period,the government not only did not expand the city walls,but also removed all the city walls and gates,which made the city space grow hundreds of times.Without the restriction of the city wall,Wuzhou’s urban space has not only been limited to Hedong District,but also extended to Hexi and Henan along the rivers of Xijiang,Guijiang and Xunjiang.In addition,due to the progress of road and bridge technology,the roads in Wuzhou city have been widened and improved,and the housing of urban residents has been qualitatively changed.The influence of city expansion,the city space form in Wuzhou from crumby structure to group like.Chapter 6:The relationship between urban water system and urban development of Wuzhou.This is a gap in the relationship between urban spatial evolution and water system in Wuzhou.This chapter studies the composition of urban water system,water supply and drainage planning,urban transportation and urban flood control in Wuzhou,and further explores the rare urban development model of Wuzhou,which is "prosperous due to water and wasted due to water".There are three innovations in the research of this paper:Firstly,the time span is long.This paper studies the urban history of Wuzhou from the Tang Dynasty to the eve of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.Secondly,the relationship between water system and urban spatial morphology evolution is summarized for the first time.Thirdly,it combs the elements of Wuzhou urban space comprehensively,and studies the influence of the changes of these elements on the evolution of the whole urban spatial form.In addition,through the study of the change of urban spatial form in Wuzhou,some different viewpoints are put forward,such as the division of urban functional areas and the distribution of buildings in Wuzhou in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
