Research On The Traditional Dwellings In Luang Prabang

In today's society,people's living standards have been significantly improved,and they have been satisfied in terms of material needs and spiritual needs.Although material culture is rising,many traditional cultures are quietly disappearing.Among many traditional cultures,the folk culture has a distinctive traditional architectural color and is an important carrier for witnessing the traditional culture and inheriting traditional culture.Traditional folk houses are housed in folk art from different periods.They are the superb architectural wisdom of the working people,representing the lifestyle of the traditional people and their use of different architectural spaces.Laos is a country with a small land area,but its cultural atmosphere is very strong.Laos is bordered by countries such as Thailand and China.Due to the special geographical location,Laos' customs,cultural hobbies and residential buildings all have obvious characteristics and present a colorful state.The most obvious feature of traditional dwellings in Laos is the “rain-drying” building,which is a high-rise house.The main materials of the building are wood,thatch,and bamboo.This paper studies the development of Laos' traditional residential structure and selects the ancient town of Luang Prabang in Laos,which is the famous Buddhist center of Laos and one of the oldest surviving towns in Laos.Luang Prabang is a relatively small mountain town with strong national cultural characteristics.After investigations by the United Nations expert group,Luang Prabang town has 679 well-preserved ancient buildings.Therefore,Luang Prabang is a representative city of Laos traditional residential structure,as such can be used to represent the study of Laos traditional residential structure.This paper first explains the background and significance of the study of the traditional residential structure of Luang Prabang ancient city and the research results of scholars at home and abroad in traditional residential architecture.This is used as the background of this study,and then summarizes the historical and cultural background of Lao Laolong.The basic situation of the Luang Prabang area,from the perspective of cultural background and location background,illustrates the advantages of the traditional residential buildings in the small town of Luang Prabang.This paper also carried out a case study and selected the comparatively distinctive residential buildings in the small towns of Luang Prabang as the object of case analysis.Through the method of establishing three-dimensional models,the structural systems and construction methods of different cases were elaborated for future maintenance and protection work lay the foundation.At the end of the paper,the appropriate technology update road under the guidance of sustainable development thought is given.Today,the small town of Luang Prabang has become a representative city of Lao classical architecture,and traditional residential architecture has become an important carrier of traditional cultural heritage.This paper studies the traditional residential buildings in the small town of Luang Prabang,clearly recognizes the structure of traditional residential buildings in the area,can better maintain the traditional residential structure,and enhance the protection of traditional residential buildings.
