Research On Thailand Renewable Energy Development And Sino-Thai Renewable Energy Cooperation

The world is going through a new energy revolution.Enormous resources have been invested in developing renewable energy by nations all around the world.Even oil-rich countries such as Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates have already issued ambitious renewable energy development plans.Global competition in this field is also getting increasingly fierce.Now,the global renewable energy market is dominated by few major countries such as China,USA,Germany and Japan.Among the global renewable energy super powers,Thailand is a rising star in Southeast Asia.Its renewable energy is developing rapidly as the share of renewables accounts for more than 23%of national total electricity capacity,from 17.7%within four years.Furthermore,Electric Vehicle has also become a pillar of Thailand 4.0 policy and the government is trying to transform its traditional automotive industry into Southeast Asia EV manufacturing center.As a pivot of One Belt One Road Initiative,Thai promising renewable energy market provides a rare cooperation opportunity for China.Firstly,this article introduces Thai renewable energy resources,development history and major policies in detail to illustrate the foundation of Thai renewable energy development.Afterwards,it reveals the great achievements of Thai renewable energy development and the troubles Thailand has been faced with.Since lacking of fund and technology is the biggest shortcoming,China,with advanced technology and abundant capital,could breathe new life into Thai renewable energy industry through Sino-Thai cooperation.The third section thus discusses the prospect of Sino-Thai renewable energy cooperation.After rigorous analysis,the author finds that due to its abundant resources and favourable policies,Thai renewable energy has developed very fast and will have a promising future.While Thailand is carrying out more favorable policies for international renewable energy cooperation the chances for Chinese renewable energy entrepreneurs are good in Thai market.Chinese enterprises should seize the opportunities and face up to the challenges,contributing to One Belt One Road Initiative.
