Application And Research Of Seal Character In Product Design

The development of domestic product design industry will be influenced by Western culture inevitably.Under the background of the country’s vigorous promotion of traditional culture and the culture’s going out strategy,more and more product models are inspired by traditional culture and express the design language full of Chinese traditional characteristics.Chinese traditional culture should not search for a place in the spiritual framework of Western culture.In contrary,designers need to truly enter the ancient culture to experience,feel and grasp the pulse of Chinese excellent traditional culture.As an ancient character form,the Seal Character is also an important part of Chinese calligraphy.The Seal Character is solemn,vigorous,rigorous and unified,which also has the characteristics of round lines,beautiful fonts,symmetry and balance,forming a unique style.Through the summarization of the characteristics of the Seal Character and the analysis of the cultural connotation,extracting elements of the Seal Character and penetrating them into the product design concept and factors may broaden the modern design thoughts and create a design form with unique Chinese traditional culture.This project takes the Seal Character during the period from the Shang Dynasty and the Zhou Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty as the main research object,gives a brief overview of the reform and development of the Seal Character,focuses on the analysis of the lines,structures,proportions and other morphological elements,and explores its aesthetic spirits inside.Additionally,this paper summarizes the application methods of the Seal Character elements in architecture,graphic design,product and some other fields,proposes that these elements should follow the principles of function,identification,artistry and emotion in product design,and explains the application method of the Seal Character elements in product design.China is starting to transform from the Great Country of Manufacturing to the Great Country of Designing,in which the domestic product design industry will play an unimaginable role.Product modeling can provide the most direct sense experience,meanwhile it is an important method to promote the add value of products.By combining the elements of Seal Character with product design,it can not only increase the products’ cultural connotation but also try to find a new thought and a new way for culture inheritance.What’s more,it can manifest the decorous feeling of the art of Seal Character,enhance the visual impact of products and strengthen our national characters vividly.
