Research On The Development Of Public Parks In Beijing During The Republic Of China

The period of the Republic of China was a turning point in the process of Chinese Parks'development.Due to the influx of western culture,the public,as the guiding ideology of the western ideological construction,influenced the Chinese traditional garden types.From then on,a new weather has emerged in the development of Chinese Gardens.Beijing had a lot of park resources.Royal gardens,private gardens and temple gardens became parks that opened to the public in that period,and these transitional gardens became the precursors of modern parks as well.It played an important role in promoting the development of modern landscape architecture.This paper,takes the development of public parks in Beijing during the Republic of China as the research object.It aims to make a detailed and systematic analysis of the opening,reconstruction and new construction of Beijing parks from the aspects of the Royal Garden,the opening of the private garden,the renovation of the temple garden and the creation of the new parks by using the theory of publicity and public space.Analysis the ideological support of the park construction and reformation.Besides,this paper investigates the various social activities that held in these parks to analysis the important role they played.This paper holds that the park is the originator of modern urban public space and the emerging development of civil society in the period of Republic of China.The park is the earrier of public activities,the various social activities in park promote the practical significance of the park,reflect the interests of the people's demands,enrich and expand the function of the park.Park and city,public and society had formed a good interactive relationship.It promotes the development of society in the environment,health,planning and other aspects and it also becomes an important tool of social education.It is hoped to give reference to the construction of parks and urban green space.
