Preliminary Study On The Micro-Regeneration Of The Shapo Tail In Xiagang Area

With the cities in China nowadays transforming from Industrial-city to Consumer-city and the context of "built environment stocks",the urban regeneration is no longer a large-scale rebuilding,but a revival of the urban places with authenticity with the theme of "culture" attached,a micro-regeneration,which is a specific and bottom-up approach.Sharon Zukin,an American sociologist,once summarized the "culture in destination" as the renewal mode of "the new renewal of the urban of production and leisure consumption in the post-industrial-city.That is,the authenticity of urban places should be utilized to become attractive urban places in consumer culture.The micro-regeneration of Shapo tail emerged in this context.However,the renewal mode "culture in destination" easily falls into"self-demonization",which dissolves the authenticity of urban places.The Shapo tail of Xiagang Area is currently in the process of micro-regeneration,partly under the mode of "culture in destination".The regeneration of Shapo tail is facing the crisis of the authenticity,the essence of which is the contradiction between globalization and consumer culture and localization and geopolitics.Simultaneously,the micro-regeneration could maintain and develop the authenticity of the place.The main purpose of this paper is to study the micro-regeneration of Shapo tail in the discussion of "authenticity",so as to vigilance against a new wave of radical leap.This paper sorts out the connotation of "authenticity" and redefines it--pointing to the localized management."Micro-regeneration" is a new renewal mode in response to the new context of urban environment,which points to a specific design and adapt to the daily life and work's needs.Therefore,from the two aspects of physical authenticity and community authenticity,this paper analyzes and researches the status of micro-regeneration of Shapo tail,and puts forward Suggestions on the strategy of renewal design.
