University library is a large-scale public building and one of the largest energy consumer in a campus which has considerable energy-saving potential.Reading space is the main functional space of a library, its light environment quality is particularly important.Good daylighting design can save energy and provide a comfortable lighting environment for reading at the same time. However,at the beginning of the design phase, there has been a lack of accurate estimation of the actual situation in the operation phase, which will not only reduce users' experience but also hinder the realization of design goals. Therefore, energy saving should be based on good user experience in the lighting environment. This paper first reviews the literature of daylight, building energy consumption and user experience, and sorts out the relationship between these three aspects. Then, through field observation and questionnaire survey, this paper analyzes the lighting conditions and users' daylight environment experience in the reading space of university libraries in Shenzhen.Characteristics and existing problems are summarized during the analysis. After, based on the previous survey analysis,a typical reading space model is established, variable factors and scenarios are selected too. This paper uses Ecotect and Desktop Radiance to simulate the impact of them on indoor daylight environment, and makes comparison between them. Finally, the paper simulates the energy consumption using Designbuilder and then makes comprehensive optimization. On one hand,it analyzes the impact of various factors on energy consumption and makes optimizations comparing it with daylight environment performance. On the other hand, the paper analyzed the energy-saving levels of different control measures considering users' behavior modes.Optimization suggestions are put forward. The results of the study show that:(1)Considering improving both users' light environment experience and energy-saving level,it is more ideal to increase the window size on the north side and increase the number of window properly.Floor-to-ceiling window is not ideal no matter for improving lighting environment nor energy-saving.(2)Considering users' behavior related to light environment, adopting artificial lighting control measure can save about 25.6% of the total energy. This is the most energy-saving measure compare with other measures,so it is very beneficial to combine lighting design with daylighting design.(3)Different internal shading control modes have different effects on energy-saving.However,the overall energy saving rates are all much smaller than using artificial lighting control measure. The management of the internal shading is very important. Some internal shading control modes dose not save energy at all.It is recommended that the librarian control the internal shading according to the light intensity from the perspective of reader's comfort, which can ensure lighting comfort and save energy.(4)When taking the internal shading control measure and the artificial lighting control measure at the same time, the energy saving rate of the total energy consumption rise from 19.46% to 23.5% as the window-to-wall ratio increases, this energy-saving level is lower than only take artificial lighting control measure. From the perspective of user experience, this paper feeds the information of daylighting situation and users' lighting environment experience back to the design stage.Based on this, the paper analyzes and optimizes daylight and energy consumption through software simulation. This series of work can help researchers and designers to improve daylighting design of reading space and optimize users' experience of light environment. On this premise,it can promote the realization of energy-saving design objectives. At the same time,it can provide basic data and research direction for the integrated design and balance optimization of daylighting and energy-saving for reading space of university libraries in Shenzhen and hot summer and warm winter area.
