The Investigation And Design On Edible Landscape In Residential Districts Of Chengdu City

In the contemporary urban development,numerous developed countries have embraced the edible landscape an urban agriculture in public open spaces,community and school landscape as well as private yards.Compared with western countries,the urban agriculture in China is left behind a lot while its pace is quite quick and significant.Within 30 years,the urban agriculture has been upgraded from a new concept to the national project as well as received supports and focuses from scholars and officers.More important,although there are lots of lessons and cases has been made in developed countries,Chinese urban agriculture is not only cookie-cutter copy and blind drawing but also a unique urban agriculture for Chinese style and characteristic by combining with advantages of large population and agricultural background.For example,countryside orchards,rural tourism,educational farms and edible-landscape bar and other creative models.In the research,the topic,edible landscape,emphasizes the practical,ecological,economic value created in the city.Furthermore,it aims to explore the further research about the development pattern of the edible landscape in Chengdu.First of all,the concept of the edible landscape will be defined and introduced.Besides,the background of edible landscape also will be mentioned by integrating with national and international case studies.Secondly,the investigation part,it will collect information about the current stage and residents’ reaction to the edible landscape through methods of photos,interviews and survey,etc.Then,it is going to conclude some typical characteristics of the edible landscape in Chengdu as well as come up with the critical discussion of local features.Last,a practice in Chengdu,which is the combination of literature review in part one,investigation in part two and the framework in part three.This part will be engaged in design,planning and some creative concepts,which apply principles and the framework in previous parts.The third method is the evaluation of the practice and the edible landscape in Chengde.At last,this paper concludes 6 points of the reliable research foundation and lessons for future urban agricultural development in Chengdu city according to the investigation and design project on the edible landscape in residential districts.It discusses the characteristics of edible landscape in Chengdu city from aspects of landscape character,residents characters,plants setting and planning or design methods.Therefore,the innovation will bring about a revolution on traditional mode of greening and activities in Chengdu,at the same time,improve the public popularity and knowledge about this creative and modern industry.
