Maker Space,a kind of social self-organization originated in America,has got a rapid development and translated into various organizational forms since it was introduced into China in 2010s,especially under the policy of the Mass Innovation Entrepreneurship.Based on the example of Nanjing and Beijing Makerspace and the method of Social Network Analysis,this paper combines social networks and virtual/physical space together,analyses the evolution and the corresponding selection and construction processes of space,and explores the affecting mechanism between the two factors.First,relational theory provide important theoretical foundation for the analysis of social network and space.Second,this study argues that the development process of makerspace in China can be divided into three phases:the primary,the middle and the advanced phase.Based on the chatting records of QQ and Weixin group,this paper calculates the centrality by the software of UCINET 6.0 and divides the network structures,finding that the structure changes from the Hourglass to Pyramid and lamellar structure.This evolution reflects the multiplicity of social relations,spatial activities and roles.Subsequently,this paper analyses the role and content of individual social relations from the perspective of whole network and ego network.The difference between individuals contributes to the differences of result of choose and ability of construction of space.Based on the correlation analysis between social network and space,this paper argues that there is an interacting mechanism between social network relations and space,and the social network could choose and construct virtual and physical space.The individual demand-driven ability of construction is decided by the difference of power between social relations.The major conclusions include:the social organizations like Makerspace constructs a loose social network inside,and the social network structure has an evolution process of"polarization-banlance-repolarization".There is a correlativity relation between social network and spatial demand which results different chooses of space.Social network relies on virtual/physical and macroscopic and microcosmic space,and the space affect the construction of space.The multiplicity of space is the result of the choose and construction of individual demand-driven social relations,the differences of ability of individuals comes from the power differences between network relations.Some discussion and advice for the creative social organizations like Makerspace conclude:social organizations like Makerspace play a connecting role between creative individual and markets in the creative activities,which have an important social influence in realization of creative production.Contrasting with virtual space,physical space plays more important role in technological innovation activities.Besides the physical factors of creative activities,the institutional factors are also important for the participant in technical creative realm,and the makerspace organizations will bring more opportunities for their cities.The whole thesis contains about 42 000 words,12 pictures and charts.
