The steel plate shear wall,the key component in the structure of ethylene cracking furnace,has good ductility and lateral resistance,which plays an important role in the seismic performance of the whole structure.In this study,steel plate shear wall structure of ethylene cracking furnace body designed by China Global Engineering corporation are investigated using the verified finite element modeling method.Based on the analysis of the lateral resistance parameters,some suggestions for the design of the project are put forward,and the seismic performance of the steel plate wall is analyzed.The main contents and conclusions are summarized as follows:1)Modeling method related to ABAQUS of steel plate shear wall is proposed referred to the field research,and investigated using correlative experiments.The results shows that the finite element modeling method proposed can result the accurately ring shape,stress development and distribution,deformation development and distribution,hysteretic curve,skeleton curve,ductility and energy dissipation capacity of steel plate shear wall under cyclic loading.2)The factors such as stiffener form,stiffness ratio of stiffener column,stiffness coefficient,and presence of anchor nail are considered to study the effect on lateral bearing capacity of steel plate walls using finite element analysis software.Conclusions and suggestions are summarized thorough comparison analyses: the column sections of HW200×200×8×12 or HW250×250×9×14 are recommended.The limited effect on bearing capacity of steel plate wall of the stiffness ratio of stiffener is observed with sufficient magnitude and well type flat steel stiffener is suggested.Anchor steel nail produced positive outside supporting effect for steel plate wall,and initial elastic stiffness,overall lateral stiffness and ultimate bearing capacity are found increased within the presence of anchor steel nail.The diameter 10 mm of anchor steel nail is suggested for the effect of varied diameter was eliminated with the relative densely decorated with interval distance 200 mm of the anchor steel nail.3)Nine numerical analysis models of steel plate shear wall are established using ABAQUS.The effect of stiffening form,presence of anchor nail and anchor nail edge are considered on the seismic behavior of steel plate walls via the performances of hysteretic curve,skeleton curve,ductility and energy dissipation capacity.The results shows that seismic performance of steel plate walls is improved with the presence ofthe anchor nail and appropriate arrangement of stiffening rib.The detrimental effect on overall ductility and energy dissipation capacity is detected with excessive stiffening rib stiffness.Anchor nail produced an advantage of restricting the out-surface yielding upon stiffening rib.The load-carrying capacity and lateral stiffness of steel shear walls with distal slide nail decrease rapidly with the increase of lateral displacement,with the higher interlayer displacement angle than 1/100.
