The most important concern in urban planning is the vulnerable groups in urban life.Children groups are neglected vulnerable groups in the vulnerable groups.While people are paying attention to the growing problem of aging,the needs of children are often neglected.Children's physical and mental development affects the future development of society.And early development is very important for children's health of both physical and mental.Children's early development is mostly to establisha good partnership in the game activities,while exercising the body and forming a healthy psychology.In modern social environment,children activity area has been smaller because of the competitive pressure,limited by their age and heavy schoolwork.The public space in residential district is the most accessible and frequent activity area for children.Nowadays,there are fewer and fewer children doing outdoor activities in the public space of residential district.From the perspective of adults,people need to focus on whether public space design meets the needs of children.Therefore,this article takes children as the object of research.Analyzing whether the public space in large residential areas meets the needs of children's activities from the perspective of children' s behavioral characteristics.The public space in large residential district named 'Xiaoguan',Street of Beijing is investigated and studied.Which is based on the relevant research results at domestic and foreign,the preliminary understanding of children's behavior characteristics and public space characteristics of residential district.The current situation and existing problems of children's activities in large residential district are analyzed.This paper explores a design method of public space in large-scale residential district,in which children are fond of and respect their ideas.The method aims to enable children to get a real sense of satisfaction in public space activities of residential district.Moreover,providing some suggestions for the design of public space in large residential district in the future.
