| After Buddhism came to China,it has become a gradual integration with China’s local culture thought(Confucianism and Taoism,etc.).In this process,ideas and forms of Chinese construction and manufacturing have also penetrated into the Buddhist temple garden.While the Buddhist temple garden has Chinese classical garden features as well as royal gardens and private gardens in China,it also has a unique religious,and this feature also determines its nature of the public garden.Based on the investigation of existing Han Buddhist temple gardens around Chengdu Sichuan and the study of relevent theories,the paper has done a deep empirical research on spatial elements to reveal its unique artistic characteristics and humanistic philosophy.And the historical cause and manifestation of the Buddhist temple garden as the public garden is further explained with a view to give a reference to the modern public space design.Concrete research process is as follows:First,the paper analyszes the causes of the Buddhist temple garden as the public garden by starting from the historical development of Sichuan Han Buddhism temple garden through the study of historical data query,satellite images and field investigation.It is found that the reasons why the Buddhist temple garden has the nature of the public garden are the same religious belief and long-term integration with all sectors of society in politics,life and economy.Second,compared with royal gardens and private gardens in China,Sichuan Han Buddhist temple gardens have more landscaping elements.One of its specialities is there are a lot of architectures,comedies and local plants with distinctive religious themes which are the extension of the Ba-Shu culture.This speciality is important for it visited as a public park.By analyzing the spatial distribution of Han Buddhist temple gardens and function of their various forms of space and their spatial elements,the paper has proved that spatial elements play a important role in maintaining the public space.Finally,through a comparative study with the Tibetan Buddhist temple gardens,the paper concludes that both the Han Buddihist temple and the Tibetan Buddhist temple have the same nature of the public garden,but with their ways of different expressions and ranges of different audiences. |
